Those of you who know me know that I am pretty much a professional fangirl. I either dislike a show or LOVE it to the point of obsession most of the time.

Well, I'd like to introduce you all to my newest fandom: Dead Like Me.

I watched this series in about three weeks time and I absolutely fell in love with it. The dark comedy, the tragedy, the relationships... It's an incredible show and I definitely recommend it to anyone who is looking for a new show to try out.

Another thing about myself anyone who knows me knows: I am a huge shipper. I pick my couples and stay with them for the long haul, no matter what others think of them *cough*Buffy/Giles*cough*, how seemingly impossible it is that they'll ever get together or what other couples they try to distract me with. I may love several different ships with the same character but I will always have my favorite.

With Dead Like Me, that favorite is, without a doubt, Mason and Daisy.

At first glance they seem like an impossible pairing. He's the fuck-up of the group, the drunk druggie who quite rarely gets anything right. She's the gorgeous starlet who thinks quite a lot of herself and is at first glance extremely shallow and petty.

But gradually the show delves deeper and deeper into these characters and in the end we are shown that they are actually almost exactly alike. Both of them are haunted by a darkness in their souls, a darkness that they try to hide with their shiny outer personas. Daisy brightly jokes about all of the men that she's blown/slept with to disguise her anguish over having never been truly loved. Mason keeps everyone at an arm's length to try to hide how much he wants their approval and how much their snide comments and jokes at his expense really hurt him.

In the end, what we are left with are two very lonely characters who are so fucked up that they can't even turn to each other without it ending in disaster.

I love to think that somewhere in the future (not the movie... the movie is dead to me) they manage to get enough of their issues out of the way to have a happy, dysfunctional relationship.

Okay, so customers_suck and customerssuck are two of my absolute favorite places to read... I have so many sucky customers that it makes me happy to learn that there are worse out there. But I decided that I should post a few of my own sucks on here.

I should mention that for some reason my absolute favorite place to be at work is on Self Check. I don't know what it is about SC but I just absolutely love it. It makes the time go faster, it puts me in a good mood even if I've had the crappiest of days... I just love it. That being said, I don't love most of the customers who use it.

Okay, so it's been almost a month since I finally faced the truth about my supposed best friend... so I guess it's time I talk about it.

Amanda and I have always had kind of an on/off relationship type thing. We'd spend weeks together with hardly any time apart and then go for weeks without even really speaking (despite efforts on my part). I always just accepted it as the type of person that she was.

But as of this month it's been a full year since I've been able to see her and it really started to bother me... Anytime I mentioned us getting together she'd act all excited but ignore me when the time we'd planned came around. It started to frustrate me but I was scared to let her go, scared of being without her. I also didn't want to lose such a long friendship (nine years). So I tolerated it.

I took the weekend after Memorial Day off specifically so that we could hang out. We made the plans like three months in advance. Up to a week before she was still assuring me that it was still going to happen. But after that one-week mark the silence began. I called, texted, emailed... all to no avail. I wound up spending my weekend off alone just sitting around the house. And that was it. I finally made the decision that no matter how long we'd been friends or how much I loved her I had to do what was best for me... All that she was doing was causing me pain and holding me back... so I let her go.

It's been almost a month since we've talked and I finally had to message her again to find out the answer to a question or two. I feel so much better since I've stopped talking to her. My aunt has always said that she can tell when I've been talking to her because of the way that I act and talk to her.

I guess that sometimes it just takes making a few real friends to recognize the ones who aren't really there for you when you need them... I love my new friends so much but I will always have a special place in my heart for my first best friend even if we did outgrow each other...

Yes, I'm still alive... My life is just too boring to blog about!

So May 18 was my six-month anniversary of working at Wally World. I'm so excited because I really love my job and I've never held a job this long so I feel really successful and stuff now. BUT. The GREAT NEWS.

Yesterday when I came back from break Jennifer and Lori (two of my CSMs--my direct bosses) were waiting for me. They asked if I had the service desk in my career preferences. I said I didn't know and they asked if I'd be interested because it's a pay raise, forty hours a week AND it's up a few levels from cashier (I don't understand levels really, but it's a Level 5--that's gotta be good right?). As soon as I heard 'pay raise' and 'forty hours a week' I was in. So Jennifer and I went on the Wire and put it in my career preferences--I'm sooo psyched now, I really hope that I get it! I've been told that I'd be good at it "as nice as I am" haha.

And then to make a great day even better, I checked out these two women yesterday who were very nice and talkative. We chatted and then as they left the older woman said, "Your name's Amanda?" I said yes and she told me to have a great weekend. Not two minutes later Shelly (another CSM) came over and told me that I had just gotten a GREAT compliment and to keep up the great work. Needless to say I had a HUGE grin on my face for the rest of that work period and I felt so good. Please people--compliment your cashier if they do a good job. It really makes us feel good and inspires us to keep up good customer service!

Long time no update, bad Manda! LOL... I've been using Facebook excessively recently and just abandoned my poor little Livejournal... and I'm not remedying that today LOL.

You see today I just want to talk about a few of my fandoms and pimp out my first ever gig as a community moderator!

First order of business: shannon730 asked me to come onboard joss_las as a moderator and to run a round, so signups for Round 10 are open right now. Just click here to read the rules!  I'm very excited, it's the first time I've ever gotten the opportunity to do anything like this and I think it's going to be quite fun.

Secondly, my Buffy love has come back big time. And how cool is it that I actually have an icon with Buffy and my workplace?? teehee!

When Becki started watching Buffy for David B, I decided it was time to watch the series all the way through again because it's been a while since I did that. At this point I am 5 episodes into Season 2 and loving it! I'd be farther if not for the next obsession I'm going to talk about.

Dark Angel is seriously addicting. I watched it (with frequent breaks to take the pup potty) from about 10 PM last night right up until I left to come to the library at 11-ish this morning. I am 12 episodes into Season 1 and it is such an awesome show. I didn't really want to leave but I wanted to do all of the joss_las stuff and some other things, so here I am. I think I'm going to leave early and try to watch a couple of episodes before Gossip Girl... but we shall see. (Max and Logan are so awesome--I am officially a shipper!)

Hey peoples!!! So I wanted to do a quick update about the wonderful world of Twilight and a meme that I got from lauraelizabeth9.

First order of business: TWILIGHT.

I pre-ordered my DVD from Blockbuster about a month ago because they were having this special release party (at midnight, obviously) just for the people who pre-ordered (and because I really really did not want to have to fight for my copy). I was very happy to find myself scheduled to work until eleven Friday night--when I got off I walked around with my friend Rebekah for a bit and then changed clothes and headed over to Blockbuster at about eleven thirty.

Let me say that at this point Walmart was already getting packed--they have the Twilight section set up in softlines (oh god I've worked there too--in the clothes section) and the area is small so it was already packed and spilling out into the walkway. Blockbuster was much saner (and the 2-disc edition was cheaper!). They gave you a wristband with a number and that number was your place in line. I got 23 which was really like nine or ten lol because they were giving the numbers out randomly. I talked with some of the other people in line and the employees until it was finally 12:01 AM and they started to sell the DVDs. The really cool thing that made me so glad I chose Blockbuster was that I got a free poster with it! It's of Edward standing in front of the Volvo and it is so very very pretty.

So anyways when I got home of course I had to watch the movie and was once again blown away by just how perfect it was. Then I watched some of the special features--I say some because my DVD player remote has been missing for some time now so I can't watch any on the first disc, but I can watch the second disc's features because when you watch one it skips down for you. Yay! :)

I got bored over on http://ebtwilight.proboards47.com/ earlier and decided to post my take on the deleted and extended scenes... so here we go!

Blair/Chuck

Oh lordy, where do I even start?!

Okay, so Blair Waldorf and Chuck Bass are my two favorite characters individually, and together... oh man do they ever bring out my inner fangirl! I started watching Gossip Girl when I caught the first season finale and was intrigued. Then I moved in with my aunt and my cousin is obsessed so I started watching it with her (the previews for S2 hooked me). I got hooked quickly and began to really enjoy the B/C scenes... then I decided I wanted to try to make a GG video so searched for clips and found GossipGirlOnline.net... downloaded every single episode of the space of several weeks and fell more and more in love with Blair and Chuck with every episode I watched. They're one of my favorite couples of all time! And I could go on but I'm going to stop now :)

Jacob/Bella

I think my feelings on Jacob and Bella are best summed up like this: If Edward never existed, I think I would root for them. He's so damn sweet and funny and loveable--and he's her best friend. Match made in heaven right?

Well, Edward does exist (thank Stephenie Meyer) so I can't truthfully root for them for a few reasons--one, Edward and Bella belong together! Two, Jacob is such an ass in Eclipse that I hate him and wish that Bella had broken his nose instead of her hand. And three... well, Edward again! lol

I love Jacob and Bella's friendship so much, but I have to admit to being TEAM EDWARD 110%.

BTVS

Aw dude my first fandom! *iz wistful* LOVE BUFFY! I said this in a VLog once but it bears repeating--Buffy is the show that got it right. Maybe not all the time, but at least 97% of it.

I could go on and on about Buffy and how much I love it but I'm running a little short on time so I'll save it for another day. I'll leave you with a rundown of my show favorites:

Robert Pattinson

...formerly known as, "the guy who played Cedric on Harry Potter" (seriously, that is how my non-Twilight reading friend told me who was playing Edward). At first I was leery but after watching trailer after trailer he won me over. Not only is the man sex on a stick he's an awesome actor at the same time. He really did a perfect job bringing Edward to the screen and I am really looking forward to seeing him in other movies. I also love his singing voice!!

Gossip Girl is turning out to be one of the greatest shows that I've ever seen. There are flaws of course, but for the most part the show is just sheer perfection. The characters are almost all so fun to love or hate (with the exception of Vanessa Abrams who is just plain dull) and they're all very well-definined, as are their relationships with each other. I just adore this show!

Now, you all know that I am a HUGE shipper, and right now my ship of choice is...





Blair and Chuck, Chuck and Blair. They are just so incredible together!

I went to visit my dad in Arkansas this past weekend. I had a lot of fun, got to watch Jared play basketball, hang out with Justin and Jordan, and go shopping with Melissa and Dora. I.ve missed them a lot... It was great to catch up but I hate only getting to stay one night. I want to try to fly up there for a few days or maybe even a week when I've been at Wal-mart long enough to request it off and when I have the money to do it... ~M

I have had Miss Kelsey on my mind even more than usual for the past few weeks as her birthday approaches and then I realized that I have never told her story over here.

I am copying and pasting this post from another forum... This story has touched my heart from the first time that I heard about it just over a year ago this month. It's a complex case with many pointed fingers at several different people, but what's important to remember is that the one and only victim in all of this is KELSEY. 

I do have to say that I believe that her mother, Raye Dawn Smith, is guilty--I will make no comment on whether I think she actually abused Kelsey or not because I do not feel justified in making a claim one way or the other since I have never met the woman, but I do believe she is guilty of ignoring her baby's cries for help and every sign of the abuse that was on Kelsey's body.

I have to give major props to Shalyssa2216 for the term "rape kiss" (used in this video)! I tried to come up with a name for what happened in Eclipse for so long and when I heard that--well, it's just perfect!

Okay peoples it's been a while since I actually wrote a real-life entry so I thought it was time to rectify that. :) I have BIG NEWS!

After TWO YEARS of applying, I finally got a job with the lovely people who employ my daddy and I think basically owns America at this point... WALMART! I'm a temporary cashier at the moment, but I am trying my hardest to get to stay.

I had orientation two weeks ago from last Tuesday and I actually started working on the register 'live' Thursday and went completely solo on the next Tuesday (I had three days of live customers with a trainer, basically). I love it! The CSMs (Customer Service Manager) are all really nice (well, with one exception... but she's all right) and willing to help with any questions... and while it is a lot of stuff to learn, once you learn it the job is really not that difficult. Plus I love it because you're busy almost the whole time and the time just flies by. Oh, and the best part is that they are very strict about breaks, lunch and not working off the clock! I mean seriously--if you stay home sick and they call to ask you a question you have to fill out a time adjustment form to get paid for the call! I have been majorly screwed about working off the clock before so I definitely appreciate their policy.

So far I absolutely love my job! And I just happened to look up and I gotta go--I want to have time to relax at home before I have to go to work (2-11)... So I will leave you with my favorite song of the moment (and the song I want played at my funeral).

That song is also like my theme song for this past year... I screwed up so much and I'd like to think that people can forget about that when I'm gone (leave out all the rest). Thankfully God has helped me move past all of that and I am slowly but surely getting my life back together now.

Okay guys--I am writing this without having read any other reviews so that I may remain as unbiased as possible!

I went with my ten-year old cousin to the 11:35 AM screening this morning after fifty-plus days of counting down. It was such an unbelievable experience to sit in the theater knowing that in just moments I would finally see the most-anticipated movie of my life…

Twilight did not disappoint. Granted, it wasn’t quite as incredible as I had thought it would be (nor was it anywhere near the quality of the books, but then what is?) but it was still extremely wonderful—especially when compared to what usually passes for a book-to-movie.
